Gregory Burke was Director of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, from 1998 - 2005 where he rebranded the museum as New Zealand’s contemporary art museum and spearheaded the development of the Len Lye Centre, New Zealand’s first single artist’s museum.
He raised the international profile of the gallery through an acclaimed program that featured exhibitions by Lee Bul, Sam Durant, Pae White, On Kawara, etal, Marcel Odenbach and Christoper Williams and major group exhibitions such as Bloom: mutation, toxicity and the sublime and Mediarena: contemporary art from Japan.
