
Canada's modern art museum
Remai Modern opened as Canada’s modern art museum in October, 2017. Gregory Burke was the inaugural Executive Director and CEO, overseeing the museum’s establishment, visioning, strategy, branding, fundraising, construction, marketing, collection and program development. He led the museum through its opening to achieve 450,000 visits in its first year.
Opening exhibitions included the major group exhibition Fieldguide; Faces of Picasso - Ryan Gander; Thomas Hirschhorn: What I can learn from you. What you can learn from me. (Critical Workshop); Jimmie Durham: At the Centre of the World; Paul Chan: Bathers At Night and Rosa Barba Send Me Sky
